AI visibility for New Zealand lodges and premium tourism

Premium tourism is the most settled market we measure. Remembered and searched answers name the same business about 19 percent of the time, roughly four times as often as in immigration.

Even so, four in five names still change between the two. Stable is relative.

The most stable sector we track, and the least sourced

Two things separate premium tourism from everything else we measure. Remembered and searched answers agree more often here than anywhere else, and AI shows a source least often, about 45 percent of the time.

Together those say something specific. AI has made its mind up about New Zealand's premium operators, and it is more willing to say so without showing where the view came from. The reputation already inside the AI is doing more work here than any page.

Every sector we measure, ranked. A lower number means the two answers name almost entirely different businesses, so a business has to be won twice.

What we ran

Five experience types with 22 questions each: luxury lodges, boutique hotels, luxury helicopter experiences, private tours and premium wine tours. Put to five AI tools both ways, across 18 New Zealand locations.

Overseas visitors ask these questions differently from New Zealanders, and the question set reflects that.

What this means if you run a lodge or a premium operator

Few sources and a settled view is the hardest combination to shift quickly, because there is less for an AI to be persuaded by. This is long work, and anyone promising otherwise here is guessing.

The upside is that a position earned in this sector holds better than in any other market we measure.

how we measure what AI says

Common questions

Do AI answers recommend specific New Zealand lodges and tour operators?

Yes, though less often with a source than in any other sector we measure. About 45 percent of mentions come with a source, which means AI often names a property from what it already thinks rather than from something it has just read.

Is premium tourism easier or harder than other sectors?

Slower, and more durable. Remembered and searched answers agree more often here than in any market we track, at about 19 percent, so positions shift less in both directions.

Which experiences did you measure?

Luxury lodges, boutique hotels, luxury helicopter experiences, private tours and premium wine tours, with 22 questions each.
